Come To Seattle And Ride The Slut!
Posted by: Guenièvre
Okay, we have a new trolley. The South Lake Union Trolley. Yes, I'm serious. Well... they renamed her the "South Lake Union Streetcar" shortly before it started running, but there's no escaping it, she's the SLUT. The SLUT stops right by my new apartment... but I'm not sure how useful she is to the residents. Mostly, we resent the SLUT because although she's fun to look at, she's pretty much useless. We wanted affordable housing... instead, the city gave us a SLUT.

Here's a link to a news story on the SLUT: Police shoot robbery suspect after wild chase
So, I thought this sort of stuff no longer happened in the 21st century... guess I was wrong. Someone robbed a bank in west Seattle, there was a police chase, and then a shootout occurred in downtown Seattle. My boyfriend was supposed to go there for work yesterday, and actually got a call about it telling him and the other scientists to stay away. The guy who did the robbery was awfully sloppy about it. I kind of think the police

Would-be Car Thief Can't Drive A Stick Shift
Posted by: invader_gir
HARTSELLE - An alleged car thief couldn't gear up for the getaway - literally.

According to police, Garry Michael Wilson drove a stolen BMW Z3 just two blocks Saturday night before the car's manual transmission apparently couldn't take any more grinding punishment.

"He just couldn't drive the car," said police Lt. Justin Barley.

A resident on High Street alerted police when he heard someone in front of his house revving the stolen car's engine. Wilson got out of the car and fled on foot, the witness told police. The suspect was lat

The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) says a tornado is responsible for damaging more than 130 homes in Perth's southern suburbs today.

Joe Courtney from the Weather Bureau says the storm has left a trail of destruction.

"The damage has all the hallmarks of being a tornado," he said.

Signed into law April 24, 2008, the oh-so innocent sounding Newborn Screening Saves Lives Act of 2007 establishes a national database of newborn DNA.

This law establishes collection and warehousing of newborn DNA for scientific research and requires no parental consent or knowledge.

As reported by Minnesota state health department, 42,210 of the 780,000 children whose DNA have bee

Ninemsn's Report

In what I would call one of the most disgusting, vile forms of betrayal of a "childs" trust, a father had kept his daughter locked in his cellar for 24 years, during which time, has had 7 children with her. Three of "their" children (aged 19, 17, and 5) had never even seen daylight. Three other children were adopted by the man and his wife, who "knew" absolutely nothing about the girl being held in the cellar after he husband apparently told her their d

Employers To Read Workers Emails Australia
Posted by: Mayet ~ Endless Spirit ~
The Crossroad Inn
Australia has quietly proposed new email security that will allow bosses to spy on employees emails for "security reasons". I love how they slip something so sly in and make it look so completely innocent and a much needed have to have commodity. They actually convince people to accept this loss of privacy. Sounds so innocent, but what people don't see is the bigger picture. The greater chopping and slashing of peoples rights and privacy which is creating a race of sheep and people who believe

England Bans Food Dyes

I don't know why it takes Government so long to get with the program on certain issues. One of them is food color. As a mother of food sensitive hyperactive autistics, I know what food colors can do. if you give my child green or red food color in cordials or other foods you can actually watch the physical and mental changes in them. Within 15 minutes a normal placid happy child will be a ranting running yelling jumping, climbing the walls tarzan on steroids.

Everyone knows this, even parents of non sensitive children, so why does it take "decades" as quoted in the fo

I make it a rule to never ascribe malicious intent to any occurrence that can be reasonably attributed to human stupidity. There is no such thing as a completely fail-safe system; at least, none that human ingenuity can devise. Likewise, I acknowledge the role of coincidence in the course of human events. Synchronicity does not necessarily imply a designing will. Shit happens, as they say.

The tragic loss of the space shuttle Columbia is a classic illustration of both of these principles: The shuttle is as close to a fail-safe system as our species is capable of. No

20 Ways The World Could End
Posted by: invader_gir
We've had a good run of it. In the 500,000 years Homo sapiens has roamed the land we've built cities, created complex languages, and sent robotic scouts to other planets. It's difficult to imagine it all coming to an end. Yet 99 percent of all species that ever lived have gone extinct, including every one of our hominid ancestors. In 1983, British cosmologist Brandon Carter framed the "Doomsday argument," a statistical way to judge when we might join them. If humans were to survive a long time and spread through the galaxy, then the total number of people who will ever li

Satanic Killings Or Stereostyping

Shortly after three eight-year-old boys were found mutilated and murdered in West Memphis, Arkansas, local newspapers stated the killers had been caught. The police assured the public that the three teenagers in custody were definitely responsible for these horrible crimes. Evidence?

The same police officers coerced an error-filled "confession" from Jessie Misskelley Jr., who is mentally handicapped. They subjected him to 12 hours of questioning without counsel or parent

JFK Assassination

It has been over 40 years and still the true culprits of this crime have not been brought to trial or held accountable for their acts of high treason.

Are we complacent or scared?
Is there to be justice for the slain president?

Our JFK assassination site researchers believe the conspiracy goes as deep as to edit all the photo's and films taken in Dealey Plaza on that fateful November day.
